Baccharis pilularis and Grassland Bird Habitat Use on Fort Ord National Monument

This project has given me the opportunity to learn a lot about study design and collaboration with a network of interested parties. I ground-proofed and digitally mapped each of my study sites myself, and will be conducting all of the bird survey data individually. Some of my responsibilities have been:

• Using arcGIS Collector, Google Maps, and Google Earth Pro to map study sites

• Ground-measuring sites with laser rangefinders and transect tape

• Timed area surveys for grassland birds

• Grassland bird identification by sight and sound

• Hiking long distances, navigating often steep terrain
